Tasting Belgian Golden Ales

Beers of The Times - Tasting Belgian Golden Ales - Review - NYTimes.com: "A GOOD selection of Belgian-style ales is like the very best kind of buffet, offering an assortment of flavors, aromas, styles, strengths and types. You want strong ale, sour ale, sweet ale, dry ale, golden, dark, wheat, fruity and malty. When we set out to draw a stylistic standard for a planned tasting of Belgian golden ales, it seemed as if we’d taken on an impossible task. But glory does not come to those who quit easily."

Discovery’s ‘Brew Masters’ Explores the Art of Beer

Discovery’s ‘Brew Masters’ Explores the Art of Beer - NYTimes.com: "AT this advanced reality-TV moment — what with shows about crab fishermen and cake decorators and extreme eaters— it’s a little surprising that no one has gotten around to beer. A multibillion-dollar industry responsible for seemingly half the advertising on television, beer would appear to be a natural subject, not to mention a marketable one. As Stephen Reverand, a vice president for development at the Discovery Channel, framed it recently, “The planet is divided into rice cultures and bread cultures, but everyone makes beer.”"

Goose Island's $45 beer

Goose Island's $45 beer - chicagotribune.com: "Go ahead and get the double take out of the way: The beer that Goose Island is releasing Friday costs nearly $45 a bottle. Yes, you read right. Good thing it's a 22-ounce bottle.

Eagerly anticipated by beer geeks for months, Rare Bourbon County Brand Stout will be available at 9 a.m. at Binny's Lincoln Park location in bottles and on draft at 10 a.m. at the Goose Island Brewpub on Clybourn Avenue. Those are the only two places you'll find it through the weekend; next Monday it will be in many liquor stores that carry Goose Island's higher-end labels."

Brasserie de Blaugies - La Moneuse

Golden-orange in color, fruity nose, with a taste of yeast, sour orange zest and grapefruit. Crisp acidity with peppery, herbal hops in a dry finish. Saison at its best! The brewmaster is said to be a descendant of Antoine Joseph Moneuse, leader of a gang of thieves, who put their victims with their feet in the furnace until they confessed where their money was hidden. Dear Mister Moneuse, please, use the fire for the brewpot – I´ll tell you (nearly) everything – if you share some beer with me.
